“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the services of others”

– Mahatma Gandhi

The students of Texila American University, Guyana, have started setting themselves as an example for the above quotes.

On Saturday, February 22, 2020, Texila American University students had volunteered on a medical outreach program conducted by Humanity First Guyana in C Field Sophia.

Along with the other volunteers from various universities, eight of our medical students had helped the organizers in providing free general medical check-ups to over 100 people. They had offered specialized services like:

  • Glucose Testing,
  • Cancer Screening,
  • HIV/AIDS Testing, and
  • Counseling for Domestic Violence and Child Abuse.

The beneficiaries were screened, treated, and offered medication if required.

Overall, it was great clinical exposure to our medical students. This volunteering action had helped them gain a lot of real-time experience and learning from it. This is the way forward to put our clinical skills learned during our clinical rotations into practice.

Texila American University takes pride in appreciating all the participants. We expect the same kind of volunteering and servicing gesture from all our students who are going to be the future medical professionals.

Let’s together transform our community through our seamless and dedicated service!
