Hello, I am Dr. Clayton Naicker and proud to be one of the recent graduates of Texila American University (TAU), Guyana. I have traveled all the way from South Africa to fulfill my dream of becoming a doctor. I always wanted to throw myself into medicine since my high-school days. I always knew that medicine is my future.
Getting into medicine in South Africa is really complicated. This was one of the main reasons my dad and I started looking at universities outside the country. I heard about TAU from a close family friend and decided to apply during my 12th grade.I decided to enroll in TAU and began my course in March 2014.
Moving to TAU in Guyana, South America, was definitely a life-changing experience for me. It is always tough for one to leave home and study abroad. However, I managed to complete my medical program in September 2019.
Faculty at TAU were focused, patient, and kind enough to help me throughout my Doctor of Medicine (MD) course. On this journey,I have also met so many people and made friends from all around the world, different cultures, and different languages.
Adjusting to the country itself was a challenge at first, but once you settle down, it becomes easy. It does throw challenges at you, but at the same time, you will come out as a stronger individual. Thanks to TAU! I have actually developed into a mature adult and learned a lot during my journey, not only medicine but also self-principles.
I pray to the Almighty that may TAU grow into a larger institution, and on top of all, may they breed excellent future doctors.
Thanks to TAU for helping me achieve my dream of becoming a medical doctor. I am proud tobe a Texilian!
