When it comes to a medical institution, laboratories play a very significant role. Without a lab that is equipped to meet the standards of any reputed medical institution, students cannot fully engage in enhancing their clinical skills. This facility is, in fact, the heart of a Medical University.
The role of laboratory testing in the care of patients is uniformly recognized as a critical component of modern medical care. Appropriate use of laboratory testing is essential for achieving safe, effective, and efficient care to patients. Exposure of medical students to laboratories is of great importance. On this note, Texila American University provides its students with Hi-tech lab facilities. There are four labs that are available with all types of equipment and instruments for the students to perform their research and experiments.
With Texila’s, hi-tech laboratories, at the completion of 4 years of undergraduate medical education, students will understand the laboratory tests that can be used for multiple clinical purposes like screening, risk assessment, establishment of a diagnosis, support of a diagnosis, exclusion of a diagnosis, prognosis, determination of individualized therapy, and assessment of disease progression or response to therapy.
They will be able to understand the differences in interpretation that these settings require and that laboratory tests must be interpreted in conjunction with the entire clinical presentation. Also, they will be able to order not only all of the tests necessary in a particular clinical setting but also only the tests that are medically useful for their patients.
There are five major labs in Texila American University. These multi-facilitated labs help students to learn practically more than theoretically.
The structure of the human body is taught through lectures, cadaver dissections, and study of bones, charts, and models. The facilities include a state of the art research lab, adequate cadavers, storage facility, Auto Embedding Machine, Embalming facilities, Binocular microscopes with photomicrographic attachment and dissection tables.
The pathology laboratory is equipped with a state-of-the-art machinaries. This diagnostic modality helps make quick decisions during surgery on organs such as the brain, stomach intestine, etc.
The department is equipped with instruments to support our future doctor’s research.
The Biochemistry Laboratory, with state-of-the-art equipment, is open for the research students to experiment and learn more on the same. The laboratory is equipped with fully automated analyzers for routine chemistry, hormone assays, tumor markers and special proteins, critical care analytes, glycosylated hemoglobin. With the advanced devices, the analysis is made error free.
We offer a state-of-the-art clinical skills (simulation) laboratory that enables students to practice patient care. Our simulation-based learning approach is grounded in learning theories and allows students to gain experience by applying their knowledge in a safe and secure environment. The simulation-based approach is grounded in our own ethical practice and we ensure that students master nursing procedures before practicing on live patients.
With Texila American University’s Hi-Tech Microbiology lab, professors can integrate theory and practicals for students to better enhance their learning. Infectious diseases continue to be the most common ailment. The students at Microbiology lab can experiment and identify the microbial organism responsible for the ailment and also puts up an antibiotic susceptibility test to facilitate the rational choice of antibiotic by the physicians.Infectious diseases may be trivial such as common cold for which a laboratory diagnosis is not sought, or serious, for which a laboratory diagnosis is pertinent.
Catch a glimpse of our students divided into small groups for easy interaction among fellow peers and the professor. The special demonstration session was conducted for the premedical students who explored the internal and external anatomy of a shark in the microbiology lab.
